User name

The user must type this when logging on.

Password

The password is case-sensitive. For increased security, assign long passwords that have letters and numbers. Avoid words and names that can be easily guessed. Do not use the space character or Option-key characters. The password appears as bullets when you type it.

Internet alias

Required for the Web server, file server, print server, and mail server if the user name contains spaces or special characters.

Enable user to administer the server

Allows the user to modify access privileges set by other administrators and see everything on the server. Selecting this option can pose a serious security risk.

Program linking

Allows the user to link to programs on remote computers. May allow users to gain access to sensitive data. Select this option only if necessary.

User may log on

The mail server will still accept the user's mail if this box is not selected.

Disable log on

Turns off the user's account after a date you specify.

User may change password

Applies only to users who log on to the Web server or file server using AppleShare.

Require new password on next log on

Applies only to users who log on to the primary Web or file server using the Chooser. Users cannot change passwords when logging on to a secondary server. You can assign a simple password and require the user to create a more secure one when he or she logs on.

IMPORTANT: Do not turn on this attribute for non-Mac OS users, or clients using the print server, mail server, FTP, or Web server. These users may not be able to receive the message that they need to create a new password.
